  • An amazing and eclectic mix of discourses, debates and discussions that fueled and reignited minds of the audience on Day 2 of the #blrlitfest2018. From heated politics to intense poetic expressions, deep explorations into a writers craft and trying to gain a deeper understanding of the varying contexts in which a writer creates his/her plot and storylines, it was fascinating and enlightening to hear how every author shaped their experiences uniquely through their book. My kind of Sunday, so what if I was alone amongst the sea of humanity that was swarming upon the lawns of the #lalitashokbangalore. I didn't buy anything today.   • Day1at the #blf2018: Beautiful afternoon spent amidst authors, writers, readers and bibliophiles in the lawns of the #lalitashokbangalore! Got to listen to some amazing writers, spoke to a couple of them, got lucky to get a signed copy of Shashi Deshpande's latest book, that's yet to hit the stands. Listening to writers sharing their personal stories, their struggles and their victories is always so enlightening and inspiring. And of course, motivating. Just the kind of conversations you want to hear every day, to grow, learn and understand yourself and find your own place as a writer. Invaluable takeaways for me and time so well spent.   • As I got ready to make the Alpana on the floor this afternoon, my mind rushing through the list of chores meant for the day, I vaguely drew a pattern that shaped itself in circles, ovals and the dots, and while I did that, it took me down memory lane. The chilly Autumn evenings in the quiet hill town where we lived used to be abuzz with a festive cheer, and on this particular day, Ma would organise everything in advance with a certain precision that I will probably never find in myself. But, I was the best helper that Ma would ever have, as I'd run around to get everything cleaned and sorted and then, I'd settle myself on the floor with chalk and rice powder mixed with water to do the Alpana, the proper way, unlike now, when I seek refuge in my brush and poster paint. I'd draw large patterns on the floor while Ma would perform the Lakshmi Puja offering the traditional luchi, payesh and mishti and oh, halua as well and we would wait patiently, watch the evening rituals, and sometimes, even hum along a couple of hymns with Ma....the memory of those days still lingering in my mind as clearly as if it was just yesterday! What an amazing thing our mind is! And while I ruminated and travelled in time, lo and behold, my Alpana had already formed itself.

May not come as easily to all of us, but playing on each other's strengths often makes it possible to achieve what might not be possible on our own. What would you rather go with?
