“Waiting for Rain.”
A snapshot of grey skies looming overhead on a sultry summer afternoon and I am somehow reminded of how each one of is waiting for that elusive something to come and transform our lives -that quintessence of positivity, that makes us hope against the impossible at times, a bit like these parched leaves waiting for rain. While it pours and floods elsewhere, we are going through a severely dry patch in some areas of the city, particularly in the area where I live. We are all waiting for the rain.
This shot encapsulates that plea!

It is a matter of real concern, Vishal. Global warming is taking its toll on us and this time, not only the rising temperatures but also the absence of rains makes me wonder what else is in store for the future!

Yes, many people have said that to me in recent times. Strangely, the south of the city, where I reside, remains consistently bereft of rains even when it is pouring cats and dogs all over the city. Climate change is hitting hard already. 🙁

It happens…even here in Jaipur although it’s much smaller than Bangalore. When you consider the fact that Jaipur is spread almost 25-30 Km N to S and 15-18 km W to E, it’s quite possible. In case of Bangalore, I guess the increasing population and vehicles are one of the biggest factors apart from the wiping out the green cover to make way for the population. It’s sad. I remember when I first visited Bangalore in mid 90’s, it was quite like a hill station in terms of the weather. But now?
I guess I’ll be visiting Bangalore this year, after a long gap. 🙂

You’ll be shocked to see Bangalore now, to be honest! It looks ugly with the metro construction on for quite some years now. The trees are now much less in number and there are more buildings and residential complexes than the capacity of this city could possibly bear. No longer like a hill station but a fire spewing dragon, if I may say so! But I think, you must come and see it for yourself. I’d like to know what you think of it now.

Even though I have been visiting Blr over the years but my last visit was almost five years ago. I’m slated to visit the city next month. I have been hearing jokes from Bangalore residents how reaching airport from another corner of the city is equivalent to the flying time of the flight. Even in my last visit I didn’t like the traffic.

Sadly, it is no longer a joke now. It is the truth. We live in South Blr and it takes us a good 1.5 hours to reach the airport on a good day. Peak hour traffic can easily make it 2 hrs which is almost equivalent or often more than the flight duration. Come prepared – is all I can say. 😀

It would have been great for you if HALairport was still functional. Now you have to cross entire city for airport. I am more than prepared Esha. Has the controversial proposed metal flyover issue settled?

Yes, for a few years we did have it that way before the new airport came into existence but the traffic was a nightmare. The road was very congested and the airport was in an absolutely horrible area. The metal flyover idea has been scrapped for now so citizens are breathing a sigh of relief finally!

I know that MG road and Airport road were absolute nightmare. But now the entire city is like that. So finally environmentalist won! Great news!
