Making Memories | #WordlessWednesday

The one parenting mantra that life has taught me is this – There is no one way to be a perfect parent, but a million ways to be a good one. And, no matter, how hard a time we go through in life, we must be true to ourselves, always walk the talk and always be kind.

Wordless Wednesday 85

A leaf out of a much-awaited family holiday that we had in Sri Lanka, some time back. This was a random moment captured by yours truly, during one of our many walks in one of the most tranquil beaches in the island, close to where we were staying. It was evening, close to sunset. The sky was overcast and we were a tad bit disappointed because it meant we missed a gorgeous sunset by the sea. But, the water was so inviting that the boys couldn’t resist walking up to feel the waves come and crash by their feet. I watched them for a while and got back to my reading. And, then, as I looked up, I noticed father and son lost in deep thought.

Instinctively, I dashed for the phone to grab a quick shot to freeze the moment as it was. And why not? Someday, years from now, we’ll cherish these memories when the teen would have grown up and like we do now as parents, would love to trace his own steps back to the wonder days of childhood. Wasn’t it just yesterday that a little boy held my hands tight, as he learned to take his first baby steps into life?

Ever wondered how life goes by in the wink of an eye, leaving us bewildered and amazed at the rapid pace at which things keeps changing in our lives all the time. It’s a bit like we’re on this roller coaster ride, zipping past people, events and everything else and then, suddenly, one day, when things come to a halt, we realise we’re at a different time in our lives and everything around and about us has changed—our youthful faces now seem weather-beaten and somewhat tired… our little boy, now a teenager, is actually standing taller than me, right there, next to his dad, having outgrown the hand that held him once! Life goes on, some days faster than we think. What’s your take?

Yes, I am always lamenting at how quickly time flies. I have several candid photos of my husband and son standing together deep in conversation, or simply standing together in cozy silence. Time spent together with our loved ones is always precious. Love the photo, Esha! It is a treasure!

What a beautiful picture and I could not agree more. Time starts to run I think when we hit 30s. So I do feel what you are saying.
Just this morning, I spotted a picture of VT and I from 6 years ago and we looked at it for a few mins, smiling and thinking where have all the years gone. Our face now shows up that we are growing old together.

This is so lovely. That picture and your thoughts. It kind of feels surreal, doesn’t it? Some days when I look at my kids, I wonder how they grew up so fast! These moments we spend together are so precious. A few years down the line and they will be gone to build their own lives while we will hold on to these memories.
