A Moment Of Reckoning | #WordlessWednesday

“Don’t let others tell you what you can’t do. Don’t let the limitations of others limit your vision. If you can remove your self-doubt and believe in yourself, you can achieve what you never thought was possible.”

― Roy T. BennettThe Light in the Heart

Our 12-year-old surveying the terrain, on a rain-soaked evening, as we were headed back to  Cape Town.

Now, here’s the backstory:

The year was 2018 and the month was April. We were on our way back from our road trip when we pulled up at a picturesque viewing point, for a brief stopover.  After an amazing six days of extensive travel across the stunning coastline of South Africa, we found ourselves in the mood for contemplation and some soul-searching reflections.

For some reason, the spouse and I both felt that it was an opportune moment to include the tween in our discussions, especially pertaining to the many learnings we’d had over the past week, and the gamut of experiences, some new and some totally unexpected.

As we spoke our minds and weighed our thoughts, the tween was typically busy surveying the landscape that lay ahead of us. Those were some precious mindful moments with some reflections and some reckonings, that we carried within our souls, before arriving at Cape Town, late that evening. After two beautiful weeks of holiday, it was nearly time to head back home!

That’s a beautiful capture to mark the soulful trip you had been to, Esha. Such trips where we can reflect more creates a wholesome experience. I loved this click, Esha. ❤️

Love the photo of Mr. A looking at the horizon from there above. I like how your family as a whole decided to pull it over and take a moment to reflect and reckon. This is just the kind of trip I would love to go on where I (rather we) can just sit down and gaze in the foreground instead of running around constantly to catch a means of transport or to reach that next destination or a restaurant for meals while having something like a trip somehow adjusted in the middle of everything. This is terribly exhausting and hence I do not go anywhere.

The quote and the picture complement each other so beautifully. True, self belief can make us achieve the impossible and lead us to the path of success and self discovery. Loved reading the back story too!

Beautiful photo Esha! Everyone has their own journey and I think we must let them tred that path…….. while we do our own thing, we must allow others to too.

    • Esha

So well said, dear Monika! Thanks a lot for your appreciation. I couldn’t agree more about letting our kids tread their own path because that is the only way to grow in life!

Self-belief is the most important thing in the world. If you cannot believe and trust yourself, no one will.

A beautiful click and even more beautiful message, Esha.

    • Esha

Absolutely right, Soumya. I totally agree with that line of thought.
