The Sky speaks in a thousand colours.
—S R Abbasi
Sharing today some impromptu sky captures that serve as splendid reminders of an enchanting evening we spent in a country guesthouse, in the sublimely beautiful South Africa, two summers back. Except, that it was winter in South Africa then!
The day we arrived at the place called Klein Karoo, it looked very secluded, tucked away as it were, on the outskirts of Oudtshoorn, in a region famous for its ostrich farms. The guest house was very quaint but beautiful, located right in the lap of Nature, where one could hear birds sing and the cool April air softly brushing against one’s face. A chat with the manager of the property enlightened us about the history of the place. Later, we gathered that it was an ideal stopover for anyone driving down Route 62, as it fell halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
The splash of pink and gold, with the majestic grey mountain ranges overlooking the valley.
We spent the better part of the evening exploring the Ostrich farm it is famous for, whilst soaking in the tranquillity and enjoying the spectacular views, especially with the towering mountains sitting imposingly, in the distance. The soul-touching moments of the beautiful evening were like the icing on the cake! As travellers, that was precisely what we were looking for and it seemed to us, that by some quirk of fate, we happened to be in the right place at the right time. Maybe, divine providence was at play! Who knows!!
Casting its’ net of gold, the golden orb goes down for the day!
And while we were discussing our plans for the following day, we realised that the sky had already changed colours, taking on the hues of bright orange and gold.
The radiating luminance all across the sky!
Lest we miss the utterly magical sunset at Klein Karoo, we stepped out, hoping to be just in time before twilight tiptoed its way in and a billion twinkling stars began to fill up the evening sky!
What a blessing it was to have been alive to the mystic charms of Mother Nature, in the middle of an obscure little settlement in distant South Africa, thousands of miles away from our home in India!
