A Crimson Sky in Knysna | #Skywatch Friday

When I looked up at the sky, miles away from my familiar shores, it seemed to welcome me like an old friend, I’d been longing to meet.

The South Africa Diaries

Welcome to another edition of #SkywatchFriday on the blog! As some of you might already know, in my previous posts, I have been bringing you snippets and snapshots from my recent trip to South Africa. So, for #Skywatch today, I thought of bringing you some breathtaking sky views of an evening we spent cruising on the lagoon of this gorgeously beautiful town in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, called—Knysna (pronounced nyznah).

Having set off from Cape Town, the week before, we were now on our way back from Port Elizabeth heading towards Cape Town. On the way, the mention of the sunset cruise at Knysna by our tour guide, Derek, seemed too irresistible. We lapped up the chance to get on board the boat that was docked by the waterfront and rest our tired feet to the sound of the gentle waves.

Nestling on the banks of a breathtakingly pretty lagoon, now a protected marine reserve, that is home to the extraordinary seahorse and over 200 species of fish, Knysna cast a spell on us— with its’ craft shops, flea markets, and cosy cafés that were so characteristic of an old world charm and hospitality.

It felt truly surreal, to be so far away from home, feasting our eyes on some of the most some amazing sights in an alien land, that spelt serenity as far as the eyes could see. Not wrong to say that it was almost picture perfect—the sky, the views and the mood, overall.

It was one of those moments when one felt grateful to be alive!
